Dry, pet nat, 2022

This single variety Yarlington Mill cider has all of the classic flavours associated with this wonderful apple; spicy cloves and an almost smoky note. The fruit for this cider came from an orchard that had gone unharvested for around 20 years. In 2017, when we took the orchard on, the trees were producing very little fruit and we managed to collect a meagre 9 sacks of apples from over 50 trees. After years of nuturing the trees back to health we now get about the same amount of sacks but from each tree!

A wooden fortress of knotted branches contains the apple trees. Cut and laid by human hand these dense hedges are the treasure chest that protects the jewels within. Tangled elder threaded with hazel all pinned and held by bladed blackthorn, studded with primroses and violets in the Spring and berries and ruby red hips in the Autumn, these precious caskets are worth just as much as the contents. Providing both food and shelter for the orchard dwellers, care for your hedges and they in turn will care for you.

750ml bottle from Artistraw. Hazed orange colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of ripe apple, stone fruit, loamy funk. Taste is tangy, tart, fruity apple, peach notes, with leathery funk, smokey hints and bittersweet tannins.Medium bodied, low carbonation, drying tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
