Lone Wolf is the herald of the new wave of Slovenian hops production. We have used the Styrian Wolf hops exclusively and the result is a balanced beer with a distinct taste and the aroma of ripe tropical fruit, melon, conifers and citruses.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark orangey, golden to amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, citrusy hoppy and minimally sugary, pale and caramel malty aroma, notes of orange, mandarine, lemon, some passion fruit, a touch of lemon tea, orange jelly bear, later some pineapple as well. Taste is crisp, bitter, citrusy fruity hoppy, sweet-ish pale and caramel malty basis, notes of orange, mandarine, lemon, some orange and lemon zest, zesty bitterness, some peppery spiciness, a touch of pineapple; minimally watery passages, less fruity, more piney finish.

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] An amber pour with a tight white head; strong aromatic, fruity malt aroma; smooth caramel malt body; then a gentle herbal bitterness, before a warming peppery finish. Rather good.

330ml bottle from Beer52. Orange golden colour with a bubbly white foam head leavinga little lacing and aroma of musky hop. Taste is malt caramel, juicy fruits, woody pine with a formic acid hint, and citrusy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Single hop IPA from Slovenia, hopped with Styrian Wolf, thanks Davor for the bottle! Thickly frothy, clearly hops-enhanced, egg-white, stable head over a misty, warm peachy orange blonde beer with lively strings of sparkling. Aroma of fresh orange peel (and strongly so), wormwood leaves, toasted onion, paprika crisps, warm biscuit, pine resin, grapefruit flesh, hint of iron. Fruity onset in a sweetish, clean way, notes of ripe apricot, orange and some green banana, with minerally, prickling carbonation and smoothly oily mouthfeel; rounded biscuity malt sweet body soon bittered by resinous, spicy, very long and firm hoppiness, citrusy and piney retronasally but not overly fruity, instead establishing a long, drying bitterness. Old school West Coast style IPA - which I still like a lot - free of technical flaws, very rounded, balanced and well-made, a very pleasant beer for the old-fashioned hophead indeed.

On tap at Macro Beer Fest Maribor 2017. Shared with lovely Anja. Hazy golden, off-white head. Moderately hoppy, orange, zest, soft herbal touch. Deliciously dry and hoppy, malt sweetness, nice balance. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, moderately lasting moderately intense dry finish. Very nice.
