Bottle shared at BD Castlegate (batch 21).it pours clear deep reddish amber with a small white head. The aroma is zingy, granny smith apple, lemon sherbet, lactic, wood, earthy and oak. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, zingy, lactic, musty, oily, oak, granny smith apple, pithy, zesty, some acidity, tangerine, kumquat, tangy and tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Fun stuff. Zingy, woody and quaffable.

Bottle. Batch(?) 21, bottled 12/08/17. This bottle stood on my wishlist for a longer while, finally got the change to buy it. Color: Clear reddish brown, off-white head. Aroma: Blueberrry, lactic, tart. Taste: Red fruit, cherries, starting with some tart lactic acid and vinegar, pretty strong oak, vanilla. Mix of moderate to medium sweet and sour. Very light bitterness. Medium body, below average carbonation. Going towards a Belgian Flemish brown/red with some less body. Glad I've tasted it, interesting beer, pretty complex and well balanced.

Earlier Rating: 12/23/2010 Total Score: 4.2A new arrival at Churchkey, this was a 750 ml bottle shared with Nahem and company, as well as a DC couple next to me who did not reciprocate :-(( A clear blueish brown color (I’m not kidding, I’ve never seen a beer this color). Aroma of sour grapefruit and unidentifiable dark fruits. Taste is cranberry, slightly bitter, slightly sour (lacto), with a bitter blueberry finish. Very nice.

2012 bottle shared. Thanks John C! Pours a deep copper with a small head. Big oak-forward nose, light cherry aromas. Tart cherry and faint vinegar on the palate with cherry pit, wood and vanilla coming out as it warms. Tart, lingering woody and oaky finish.
