An Oxford tasting
Clean amber color. Strange aroma, coffee liquor, the spirit is evident. Oily mouthfeel, moderately sweet, notes of caramel and light coffee; not particularly interesting, but sensibly done.

Bottle, pours a clear deep copper amber. Aroma is loaded with espresso upfront, with light-to-medium honey sweetness. Flavour provides a bold punch of espresso upfront, mixing well with syrupy treacly honey. Intense and well-calibrated. Really nice.

Bronze colour. Massive coffee aroma - kind of one dimensional. Sweet, with lots of coffee on the palate. The base mead isn't bad, but I don't see the value in the coffee treatment. Too clashy, adds nothing I need in a mead.

Bottle - Soft coffee and a honey note. Clear gold. Coffee and nice sweetness. Honey isn’t orevelant which is nice and either is coffee.

Bottle pours out a clear crisp golden. Nose is big coffee honey sweetness notes. Taste is more of the nice coffee honey forward sweetness.

Bottle courtesy of Athreya. Pours very tiny hazy deep golden leaving some nice looking legs on the glass with a swirl. Smell is floral and earthy with floral honey, caramel, coffee beans, hay, dry soil, cocoa powder and alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, floral and earthy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, very tiny watery, very tiny roasted astringent, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet, floral and earthy with a balanced blend of coffee and honey. Bottle shared at the MDBG tasting 4/4/16. Clear copper, weak legs. Aroma of strong coffee and honey. The taste is sweet honey, coffee, mild citrus. Medum bodied, low carbonation, mild astringency.

375 ml bottle from the meadery, 8/12/15
Pours a clear orange color with almost a rust tinge to it. Barrel / vanilla aroma, espresso beans, honey is underneath. Espresso and barrel are much more muted on the flavor with a smooth orange blossom honey-like sweetness coming through and just a nice, clean espresso bitterness to finish it off. Really liked how well this one worked.
