Grotto Azzurra Blueberry Italian Pilsner

This beer’s concept and name were dreamed up by Jay Mintz, the winner of a “Create Your Own Beer” contest we ran before we opened. He conceived of a blueberry beer meeting an Italian Pilsner to create something as stunning as its namesake, what we ‘cakers’ call The Blue Grotto. We’ve used Italian Adriatic Coastal barley, cultivated in the region around the city of Eraclea, close to Venice, and dry hopped it in the traditional way with German hops. Once complete it’s blended with blueberry for a beer as surprisingly delicious as it is beautiful.
