This American IPA is named after Deception Bay, once thought to be the original name of River John - Tatamagouche's neighbour. Brewed with Canadian 2-Row Malt, bittered with Magnum hops, and then hopped plentifully with Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, and Citra adding seriously juicy flavour and aromas.

473mL can. Pours clear gold with small white head. Citrus peel and grass on the nose. Flavour is citric and floral; orange rind, grass, and pale malts. Hop expression is fairly laid back, but otherwise not bad.

Poured from the tap @ Still Beerbar Clear-ish gold with small white head. Mild juicy, citrus hops, nothing overly interesting. Okay.

A hazed golden ipa with a thick frothy lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, light mineral notes, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light alcohol warmth, pleasant.

Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops notes with some light grapefruit notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also an excellent mix of citrusy notes with some grapefruit flavours and light residual sugar notes with limited bitterness. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed IPA which could slightly eb improved with more focus on floral hops.

473mL can, pours a cloudy murky orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of melon-like hops, some citrus and banana. Flavour is soft, with melon, some citrus hops and sweet maltiness. Buttery mouthfeel, with a slightly sweet finish.

Can - Mandarin and candy sweetness. Hazy gold with a decent white head. The same Mandarin with a bit of pith, very dry finish. Decent.

Amber and yeasty, with way too much head. There’s a bit of mushroomy note, has a mellow earthy hop note. Similar palate - more earthy hop notes. The malts are pretty good, balanced nicely, though the bitterness is a bit light. The hops don’t show through too much in the finish, which is a bit of a shame, but there does seem to be a sense of balance here.
