Welcome to Frucht, our land of fruited Berliner Weisse-style beers. Known for a tart flavor profile and traditionally low ABV, our German-style wheat beer gains even more funky notes and natural earthy-woodiness from fermentation in one of our twin oak foeder vessels - the largest known to be fabricated in this country. Each installment in the series features a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch.

This installment has peaches added, which add a ripe, juicy sweet character to the already tart and racy beer.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Nice blast of sourness. Fruity peachy aroma, fruit yoghurt, and light wheaty malt. Medium body, big tartness and satisfying sour flavour. Good.

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2017) im 2019-08 getrunken. Diese trübe, gelbe Weisse mit von ihrer recht kräftigen Säure und einer sehr schön ausgearbeiteten Pfirsichnote bestimmt.

Fruit sour by The Bruery’s sour department, tasted from tap at Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Thin and immediately open, eventually all but disappearing, snow white, loose head over a hazy peach blonde beer with straw-ochre-ish hue. Aroma indeed reveals peach but in a sour, green, unripe way, embedded in impressions of raw pineapple, green apple, sourdough, kiwi, chalk, sour yoghurt, white grapes, sour cream, raspberry vinegar. Crisp, very sour onset, lemony acidity, sour apple and unripe pineapple, not much real peach sweetness to balance, crisp but refined carb, some sour gherkins and wheaty soapiness in the middle, slick but with the sourness ‘burning’ and drying, yet acting very refreshing at the same time too with lemony and chalky effects lingering in the background. Fruited Berliner Weisse of sorts, crisp and refreshing, but one for the true sourhead; perhaps a tad simplistic, could improve a lot if it had more peach sweetness to balance out the sharp sourness. I had better Terreux sours.

On keg at Brewdog Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Appearance - cloudy golden orange. No head. Nose - sour is the major note. Something resembling orange behind it. Could be apricot and I guess peach at the stretch. Taste - very sour apricot or peach. Palate - medium bodied but extremely tight through the middle and finish. Good length. Overall - properly made sour beer.
