Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Light gold but not quite straw, clear with a uneven white head. A light lemony scent, a little soapy, some Hay and grass character. Bittersweet with clean citrus hop. Bitterness fills the mouth in the finish. A vegetal touch but otherwise lovely. Light body with soft carbonation. A simple and well-executed British golden.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden straw with minimal almost white head and good lacing. The aroma is fresh citrus and floral hops. In the mouth it is initially sweet and creamy but from the start there is a little underlying bitterness and this gradually becomes prominent. Flavours is pretty much standard malts, floral hops and citrus with some tangerine and hints of mango coming through later. This is decent – nice and refreshing, though not distinctive.
