On tap. 12.25% Pours a very dark brown with a couple of bubbles. Aromas of sweet bourbon, oak. toffee, dark raisins and big toasty malts. Flavors of candi sugar, dry caramel, raisins, oak, a bit of bourbon and toasted malts. Not getting the esters noted by others and ABV is different, so maybe a different batch. Very nice.

Amber-brown with low carbo, almost cask ale bubbles. Lots of bourbon on the nose, with underlying phenols. Lots of alcohol, too. This one has a lot of body and sweetness so it’s not too rough, but this is about everything you’ll get out of this base.

Sample. Nice bourbon, sweet, bold. Nice dark fruits, balanced sweetness. This one is very good, definitely.

Poured from the tap @ Threefold. Dark brown with minimal off white head. Lots of Belgian candi sugar dominating with nice bourbon underlay. It’s a bit too sweet in an unbalanced way. Still a nice sipper, but could dial in the balance a touch.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown, almost no head. Aroma has plenty of Belgian yeast, candied sugar, some alcohol, and bourbon barrels. Flavour is fairly sweet, with lots of bourbon barrels, candi sugar, booze, and some dark dried fruits. The malt depth just isn’t there to carry this, and the palate is on the thinner side, but the sugars are nice and the barrel character is also quite good. Not convincing as a quad and lacking some complexity, but it’s a pleasant miscellaneous sweet bourbon strong ale.

On tap at Threefold. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Lots of bourbon barrels, dark sugars, and dried fruit on the nose. Flavour has a ton of boozy bourbon up front, lots of dried fruits, brown sugar, and sweet esters. Finding it a bit hard to get behind this one, the bourbon barrels are quite boozy and the base quad is too sweet and estery.
