Make Lemon Drop Sun part of your summer survival kit, and no amount of heat or humidity will get you down. This summer thirst-quencher is not your average wheat ale. Light, tart and slightly dry, it is the addition of lemon peels & fresh hop flowers that adds a necessary kick on a hot summer day. Lemon Drop Sun is mild enough to be a refreshing summer offering, but has just enough of a hop profile & lemon zing to keep your taste buds tingling for another sip. Wheat, barley, and hops coalesce in this superb session ale, a telltale symbol of fun in the sun. Summer never tasted so good.

Just smells like beer. From a bottle, wow does this have a great presentation for the eye! Clear crisp looking pale brew with continuous rolling co2 in there. Must be because its a little warm. Big white craggy head. Warmer taste is a somewhat bitter, something like old country pilz, I think. Then a tiny bit of that rude wheat ale thing sets in during the finish.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/13/2017. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart lemon juice, lime zest, grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, lemons, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon juice, lime zest, grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart lemon juice, lime zest, grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, lemons, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Slight hop/fruit astringency through the glass, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very nice American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, lemons, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; despite the increasingly bitter/drying finish. Very similar to the base beer, with more vibrant lemony/rindy citrus notes; and a little more bitter/drying from the fruit. Very flavorful for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Lemon zest, dandelion, and lillies bouquet. Hazy amber, medium head. Intense lemon and lime, bread crust at midpalate. Light body, moderate carbonation. Not a lot of subtlety but that’s a bit of a hallmark for Southern Tier. Very enjoyable and well done. Easy to get what they are doing here and they nailed it.
