In a unique partnership with local farmers, we made this beer with malting barley grown just a stone’s throw from our brewery. Right down Fort Road, to be exact. Brewed to allow the bready character of the malt to shine through, Fort Road Helles is a full-flavored and easy-drinking classic.

12 ounce can from Festival Foods, 4/3/19. Hazy orange, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of crackery, bready malt, noble hops. Taste is bready malt, caramel, grassy hops, lemon. Thin, slick, mild lingering bitterness.

This is an outstanding helles. Aroma and flavor are both dominated by clean, mild malts. Well balanced, clean and very easy drinking.

Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a clear light gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of straw and sweet grains with a bit of bread backing. Flavor has lots of sweet grains and straw with some bread and hay supporting.

Bottle from the sampler. Lager yeast and bread in the aroma. Medium sweet, which I expect from the style. Good carbonation. Low hops and full malt flavor. Schell’s nailed the style.
