11.04.2015, 0,65l bottle (as Hoppin' Frog Tower Tuesday Infusion C - Vanilla Bean Gangster Frog IPA) shared with friends:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is sweet grassy, vanilla sugar, wet grass, hops, moss, citrus peel, hop pellets, leafs, even more vanilla sugar, grain. Taste is sweet and harsh, hop pellets, vanilla sugar, bark, leafs, paper, weeds, hay, grain, citrus peel. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh mouthfeel. Interesting at best.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2018. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of grass, light pine, sweet vanilla and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor combines pine and vanilla with sweet grains and grass supporting.

Granted, saying an IPA named "Killa Vanilla" is an out-and-out vanilla bomb is kind of a weak argument, but holy shit is there a lot of vanilla in this IPA. Orange, grapefruit, and stone fruit notes from the hops are strong, but the vanilla is stronger, young padawan, leading to an unbalanced blitz of semisweet vanilla overpowering anything else the IPA has to offer. Not undrinkable, but a little more restraint would be appreciated.

Bottle from Trafalgar Wines, Brighton (as Infusion C Gangster frog etc). Hazy dark amber pour, no head. Heavy nose of vanilla, sweat, sultana, orange peel, spiced fruit. Lots of vanilla in the flavour with a splash of spiced fruit, raisin and cookie dough. Long sweet finish with just a smidgeon of bitterness. Interesting brew.

Bottle from Beergium. Orange brown clear beer with huge, long lasting natrual white head, which leaves a lot of "pitsi". Aroma is intense with lots of vanilla. Fruit bubblegum and some caramel also. Taste has also lots of vanilla, sweet fruits and caramel. Some hints of bitterness and hops also exists, but not much. Low carbonation, medium body. Very special and not so typical IPA, I would say. I like vanilla a lot, but is it even too much?

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big vanilla, cream, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright citrus/pine hops, vanilla, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big vanilla, cream, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of vanilla, cream, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/pine hops, vanilla, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is great IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/pine hops, vanilla, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Big but not overwhelming on vanilla, and fairly juicy on hop flavors. Well balanced and not overly aggressive on bitterness. A very enjoyable offering.
