Bottle. A clear looking dark brown beer with a small dense dark beige head. Citrus, peat, some medicine, roasted malts, dried fruits and bonfire. Rather dry on the palate, with a soft carbonation. Roasted malts, dried fruits, salt and some licorice in the flavor, lasting finish. Lovely aroma in this one, complex and pleasant, but the flavor isn’t as interesting. Still nice though. 140919

330ml bottle at home, bought from the brewery?s online shop. 352 of 660. Pours near black with an initial 1cm brown head, which just goes so fast it damn near broke the sound barrier. Aromas of soy sauce and chocolate, which is not my favourite combination. Taste has more salt/toffee combinations going on, little fruity blackcurrant maybe, sour at the end. Some whisky coming through, but a bit of an odd one this.

Bottle from Trembling Madness in York. Pours black with a slight dark tan head. Aroma is sour, vinous chocolate. Med body. Flavor is sour, vinous, slightly milky chocolate. It’s certainly very different. I don’t know why it comes more vine than malt to me. Well, with time maybe it’s going a little whisky. It does have some heat. Finishes tastily sour, and hardly like an IS. It is what it is, and I wish I could try its relatives.
