This was supposed to be my 'nightcap', but the bar manager gave me three samples of the beers I hadn't tried (they have 12 available). Half-pint on tap in the breweries Old Town tasting room in Temecula on 29th December 2022. This is 'Lush'! So much chocolate and booze, loved it.

22oz bomber pours with a deep dark black body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up boozy chocolate, dark roasted malts, some vanilla and then bourbon and more booze. The taste delivers smooth yet boozy notes of chocolate, spicy oak and thin dark roasted malts. Toward the finish the chocolate and booze surge forward again. Solid big sipper.

Bottle from the dregs run. Pours oily dark brown with a thin tan head. Boozy chocolate nose, light bourbon vanilla. Taste is more of the same. Booze heat overwhelms this a bit.

Bomber from Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours very dark brown with a slight, transient dark tan head. Aroma of very strong bourbon which doesn’t totally obscure a great deal of chocolate. Full bodied. The sip is chocolate, bourbon, heat. Not a heat that’s destructive of the enjoyment. In my imagination this is like eating dark chocolate while drinking bourbon. The barrels must have been fresh. The malt is darkly treacle (tho very light on the molasses), smooth. This could make a great chocolate parfait with a good vanilla ice cream. It’s not at all sticky/sweet, and it’s reasonably earthy/bitter. Great stuff.

On tap at Real, Wild & Woody Beer Festival, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is complex as hell, with loads of roasted malt, cocoa and bourbon. The 16% is scarily hidden. Complex and robust. Fantastic.
