Kipling was the first UK beer to use the exquisite Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. We brew this as a SMASH (Single Malt and Single Hop) using the heritage Maris Otter as a base malt which works to allow the complex flavour of this hop to really shine through. There is a grassy, grapefruit character on the nose, followed by passionfruit and mango. It finishes with a balanced and thirst-quenching bitterness.

Bottle at home from waitrose. . crystal clear golden straw thin white head. Big aroma of grapes and kiwi. Flavour is grainy malt, with grassy hops and chalky water profile. Finish has that burnt clutch that I get from nelson sauvin. Firm grassy bitterness. Really nice hop forward pale ale.

25/03/2013 Open Baladin Roma (tap). Dorata, appena torbida, schiuma leggerina, poco persistente. Al naso sentori agrumati e di frutta tropicale, leggero erbaceo, non male. In bocca amara, leggermente "watery", si sente un po’ un taglio inglese, ma non convince del tutto. Corpo leggero, carbonazione corretta. Deludente, forse non freschissima.

Bottled, 0.50l. Clear deep golden color with medium frothy white head, lively bubbles and poor lacing. Aroma of fruity hops, grapefruit, lemon, tropical fruits and mild malt. Taste starts refreshing fruity, not sweet at all, then followed by light toasted malt and finished with moderate and long bitterness. Medium body, slick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Fruity heaven...

On cask at Paradiso Georgetown. Pours a hazy orange with some fluffy white head. Nose is musty, dank, some black pepper, white grape, detritus, dried lemon peel. Flavor is malty, spicy, dank, pine, soap. Very well balanced. Spicy, creamy finish.
