We took an 8.2% ABV, 65 IBU Double IPA & introduced maple syrup locally sourced near our brewery in Western New York & moderately toasted French oak chips. Roasted malts bring a deep amber hue that’s matched by drums of maple syrup, which are added to help boost fermentation & provide a clean, earthy component with a slight residual sweetness. Cascade, Centennial & Chinook hops coalesce to create a spicy, floral, citrus & piney aroma. Finally, the beer is aged on oak chips to round out its mouthfeel & provide amazing balance to each sip.

bottle, rated around January 2017 - Amber pour. Smells of resin, oak, and map. There's good bitterness with the resin and oak prominent in the flavor. Medium to full bodied. Very good.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a copper red with a small creamy beige head. Sweet toasted malt nose has woody notes. Raw, toasted malt flavor is shallow and pubescent. I wanna like this, but it seems forced. Take time to make time. Weak and woody.

The appearance was a ruddy burnt copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off at a decent pace. Light stringy lace.
The aroma had some soft sweet pine, subtle earth, light floral, sweet wood/oak, and a touch of citrusy sweetness.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side of the combination of the blend of the aromatics. Sweet blend of wood, citrus and pine in the aftertaste, but it was an extremely faint. Finish was sticky sweet and dry.
The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt adequate. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, decent DIPA at best.

Crisp light copper and amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of oak (surprise), toffee, earth, light malt and a bit of floral and herbal elements as well, but there is some strength in the hops. Medium-bodied; Very dry and astringent hop flavours with a lot of alcohol and medicinal flavours to battle out the dry oak, grain, herbal hops and fresh toffee notes that come through after the strong notes. Aftertaste is a bit complex with some enjoyable sugars and a big dose of dry, herbal hops to make it bitter towards the end. Overall, a nice-ish and very dry IPA that borders on ’imperial’ status that shows decently and finally isn’t just a reputation rating from this brewery. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Arlington (Ballston), Virginia on 01-March-2017 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 02-April-2017.

On tap at P&P Charleston. Clear light Amber with small off-white head. Aroma is oak, medium body, medium carbonation, and pretty good lacing. Taste is caramel malt and some herbal hops, with slightly bitter finish.

Bottle from Varsity. Pours a clear deep gold to copper with a small head that lingers. Booze, oak and maple leaf in the nose. Sweet on the palate with some piney bitterness that runs into the finish. I don’t know, not really my thing I guess. --- Beer merged from original tick of 2X Oak'd IPA on 25 Mar 2017 at 22:47 - Score: 6. Original review text: Booze, oak and maple leaf in the nose. Flarra Manhattan. Mörk i klassisk engelsk Ale stil. Doftar och smakar sött som attans. Nästan kvalmig i munnen. Alldeles för söt.

Pours ruby-tinged deep amber into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Crazy mixed up salt aromas. Thin and dry with butterscotch and maple upfront turning to bitter oak in the medium length finish.
