Taster showing pitch black with no head.
The nose shows intense notes of mocha, caramel, and light molasses.
The palate is moderately carbonated and light bodied with no alcohol burn. Moderately sweet with moderate flavors of caramel, molasses, and adzuki bean followed by a balanced espresso bitterness on the finish with notes of vanilla and more adzuki bean.

(Bottle, vintage 2015, 11.9%) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with notes of black coffee, cacao, liquorice, soy sauce, whiskey and oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with sweet black coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, liquorice, a touch of soy sauce, black bread, whiskey, oak wood, a touch of cinnamon and a warming finish with a generous roasty bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Creamy texture. Rich and tasty imperial stout with a balanced whiskey barrel character. Lovely beer!

2015 bottle. Cellared. Poured into a tulip. Pours deep, deep brown with mahogany highlights. Light brown head of differing sized bubbles. Slight patterns down the glass. Aroma is overt bakers chocolate, moderate cold brewed coffee and faint anise. Flavor shows powdered chocolate, rich malt, and moderate bitterness from the chocolate. Moderate alcohol burn. Still very good after 7 years!

Poured from a 2013 vintage 22 oz bottle. Aroma is malt forward with quite a bit of oxidation as well. Lots of chocolate and lighter roast notes. Moderate raisin, prune and sherry notes. Light spicy rye alcohol notes and hints of oak. Pours black with a small, thick, dark mocha head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. No lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with fairly strong malt notes. Lots of chocolate and lighter roast notes with hints of caramel and toffee. Light honey notes as well. Medium to medium high bitterness. Light alcohol spice and rye notes with light oak. Moderate oxidation with raisin, prune, and sherry. A touch of cardboard. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice bottle, but it's definitely showing some oxidation. I am looking forward to trying the more recent bottles to see if they are better with less oxidation. 7,4,7,4,15 (3.7) 2014 vintage is great. Layers of chocolate with complimentary roast, caramel, honey and whiskey notes. Only faint hints of dark fruit and oxidation. 8,4,8,4,17 (4.1) 2015 vintage falls between the 2013 and 2014. It doesn't have the oxidation of 2013, but it has an odd bitterness and astringency that 2014 does not have. 8,4,7,4,15 (3.8)
