375ml Bottle listed at 17% (long time want list) thanks to SecretSanta. Bottling listed as "2009.82.1". Pours with a completely clear, golden yellow hue. Perfectly flat with strong, laser etched legs that take a very long time to bead and fall. Aromas of alcohol, oak, caramel. Nearly a melanoidin like richness. Some fragrant pears, a bit of spice. Some fusel as well. Rich, baked bready, some esters. A light grassyness as well. Honey and caramelized ginger. The alcohol heat off the nose is the one detraction. Flavors are huge. Quite viscous, spiced, earthy and a bit waxy. Ripe melon, alcohol. Oak. A decently strong bitter tannin combats the heat, acidity and alcohol nicely. A calvados like fruity alcohol punch up front (that also finishes, dry, oaky, tannic and lightly musty like the distillate). Sweet over the mid palate, but the the fusel bats it down and keeps it from being cloying. This is quite hot. A bit fragrant towards the finish. Some fresh southern biscuits and honey as it warms with a light spice and some eucalyptus. Viscous, full bodied. Still. Warming, velvety. Good, and very different than a lot of apple products of similar weight.
