This big stout get’s aggressive with a boost from Allegro Coffee’s Exotic Mocha Java Blend. The coffee’s dark cherry flavors and spicy undertones weave into the rich, milky sweet stout like a chocolate-covered espresso bean melting on your tongue. Bitter then sweet. Sweet then bitter. It’s Bittersweet.

Riktigt gott.

Bottle shared. Huge espresso notes with salted caramel, chocolate milk and cacao nib. Slightly sweet, but not overboard. More cacao and coffee really shines here on the palate. Creamy mouthfeel with some lacto feeling. Some dry baker’s chocolate toward the finish.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Brown-black color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of roast malt, espresso, dark chocolate and a touch of fruit. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

(650ml bottle shared) Pours clear dark mahogany with a small whitish head and spotty lace. Aroma is hard roasted grains and coffee beans, Snickers bar, caramel, milk chocolate. Flavour is caramel, roast coffee grounds, lactose sweetness, a little fruitiness and chocolate, touch of green pepper maybe?. Finish is intense bitter partially spent coffee grounds, cacao, roasted grain, a bit nutty, feels a bit spicy and tannic. No real alcohol presence. Light to medium bodied for style, soft carb. I think this bottle had too much age on it, which thinned things out and made the coffee beans a bit too aggressive, but the effect was unbalanced. Probably better a bit fresher.

Keg at The Queens Head, Kings Cross, Thursday 17th March 2016 Pours dark brown with a film head, peeling away to clear dark brown at the edges. Lots and lots of coffee on the nose, rich, malty and with bags of coffee in the mouth allied with a lactic and then hoppy edge, very good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
