Pours dark brown color with tan head. Aromas of whiskey, roasted malts, vanilla, and chocolate. Sweet molasses and roasted malt flavor with subtle whiskey and vanilla. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Too sweet for me.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Whole Foods-Columbus Circle, 8/18/12, Batch No. 1, Bottled on 3/6/12
Aroma: The nose has sour fruits, some whiskey, wine, funky yeast, a little bit of oak, and some earth
Appearance: It is a dark brown colored beer with a lasting brown-beige head and medium-heavy lace
Flavor: It's lead by the fruity sweetness, which is balanced by the tart and sour flavors and the light earth hop
Palate: It has a fairly soft feel, with a medium-plus body, some syrupiness, and a lightly funky finish
Overall Impression: This one turned out to be a fairly complex beer. It is fairly heavy on the sweetness, but it still has enough tart funkiness to balance out the heavy sweetness. Overall, this one isn't something that I'd probably want to drink all that regularly, but it quite interesting and certainly well worth trying.

Bottle at Paul’s. Pours black with brown head. Nose/taste of sour malt, cocoa, rye, whiskey barrel, dark fruits, oak and vanilla. Lots of sour dark fruits but not overwhelming. Medium body. Solid but a little unbalanced at times.

22 oz. bottle, pours a very dark brown (near black) with a reddish tinge and big tan head. Aroma of lots of rye upfront, cola, charred malts, burnt caramel and dark fruits. Flavour is very sweet with a melange of different flavours - coca cola, rye, caramel, some sweetened dark fruits, and candied sugar - becomes cloying the more you drink. Fairly complex palate, medium-to-full bodied, soft carbonation and way too high sweetness. The sweetness kills whatever complexity this beer possesses - sickly sweet.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown/black appearance with a medium sized brown head. Oaky, moderate whiskey, light/somewhat spicy rye, a touch tart, dark berry/plum, rich caramel aroma- quite a hodgepodge. Somewhat funky, tangy berry, pomegrante, raisin/dark plum fruity, somewhat tart, oaky, dark caramel, toffee, chocolate flavor that drinks fairly easy. The booze is a bit noticeable but not all that bad. The tangy fruit quality really caught me off guard but it made more sense once I saw Origin was in the blend. I can drink this without trouble and I really don’t enjoy the flavor.

22oz bomber pours deep and dark with mahogany edges and a nice tall tan head. The aroma has a good roasty maltiness with mild level of dark roastiness, smooth and mild bourbon and tart berry like nuances around the edges. The taste is a pleasing mix of berry and pomegranate notes blending with roasted malts, a mild level of chocolate and smooth sweet bourbon essence. The rich malts and barrel notes go oh so well with the berry sort of pomegranate here. Just dandy.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Tart and lemon-apple aroma with light bourbon. Tart and bourbon flavor with light brown sugar and light fruitiness. Medium bodied. Light bourbon and brown sugar lingers with tartness, dark fruit, and light cola.

On tap at Rustico. Poured a relatively dark brown color with a tiny off-white/light-tan head. Aroma was dried fruits (plum mostly) with a slightly tart funk and a touch of rye grain. Flavor was a touch sour, with notes of port wine and sweet malts.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to mottle surface. Sour chocolate and pit fruit aromas. Thick with sweet dark caramel, sour pit fruit, toffee, and mild metal before the lasting iron and oak finish. Complex.
