Deel 2 voor cursisten met een voorliefde voor blast beats en shredding gitaren. Te volgen op iedere laatste donderdag van de maand.
Ter ere van deze opleiding hebben we zorgvuldig een barrel aged Black IPA voor jullie in elkaar geramd. Een vlammende cross-over tussen een snoeiharde Black IPA , de gevoelige snaren van Jamaican Rum barrels en de betonnen tonen van een whisky, afgeragd op px-sherry vaten.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. BA supported, roasty, dark malty, but BA suppressed, hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, peat, leather, liquorice, whiffs of TCP, rather indifferent hoppiness. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately and bitter, roasty, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, bitter hoppy and minimally alcoholic, notes of dark chocolate, some toffee and caramel, BA notes of leather and peat blight any attempt of citrusy fruity hop flavours to contribute in relevant extent; just the "abstract" hop bitterness lifts the onerous heaviness of the BA notes to some degree.
Oily-watery texture, slightly dry, simultaneously minimally greasy palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
BA (pre-)dominated, unable to unfold real BIPA character due to a lack of hop flavour assertiveness - not bad, not fully convincing.

Fles via de brouwerij, thuis geprobeerd. Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een volle bruinige schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van rum en px Sherry. De smaak is vol rum achtig en gebrande mout met tonen van whisky.

Draught at the brewery. Black color, average to medium sized light brown colored head. Aroma is dominated by the barrel. Flavor has it too. Very much overpowering. Black malts and roast come through still, however there's no hoppiness. Out of balance, I'd say and also: why would you barrel age a black IPA? I don't get it.
