The most tannic of our Somerset bitter-sweet cyder apples. Grown locally to the Newt, pressed in November (a late harvest apple), fermented dry and oak aged in new French oak for 9 months, to deliver a bold, powerful West Country cyder.
Our cider is spelt with a ‘y’ to preserve the old West Country tradition, originating from a time when it was used to indicate superior strength and quality.

375ml bottle from The Newt in Somerset. Clear orangey gold colour, some short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of apple, sweet flesh, caramel. Taste is tangy, tart, appley, fleshy, caramel & funk hints, and drying woody tannin. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tart & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
