Bottle from Tesco, Enniskillen [150614]
Dark amber, clear, big frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of metallic minerals, soft lemon, slight spicy hops
Taste of caramel malts, some lemon, rust, minerals, touch of yeast, soft fruits, shandy-like flavour in there, low amount of hops in this, dull
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body, light sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft malts, those minerals and metal again I’m not keen on
Overall - Not great, dull, very run of mill supermarket fare

500ml Bottle, BBD 28th Feb 2015, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard after cutting the lawns: 14th May 2014. Like most Brits I know nothing about Californian Common beers so my scores are just on my eyes, tastes and smells. Cask pint on 22nd Nov 2014: not great, but my scores stay the same. Looked good, clear amber body with a full off-white covering of foam. Refreshing and lively, more maltiness than hoppiness, but only just. Better than I expected to be honest, some mild fruitiness with the flavour and overall a supermarket beer worth trying.

Bottle split at JF’s, thanks to he, 04/05/14. Clear dark orange amber with a good sized white covering that retains well. Nose is toffee apple, candied fruit peel, lightly burnt toffee, perfumed tones. Taste comprises floral notes, biscuit, touch of vanilla, gentle fruit tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp clean close. Ok for a style I don’t find particularly exciting, easy drinking stuff.

Bottle from Tesco drunk at home. Clear amber colour with lasting thin beige head. Some malt on the aroma. Some hop. I rather like it. Some drying hop on the finish. Not a great aroma. As a California Common it’s ok or as you could say it’s more like a premium bitter. Fairly drinkable though.
