Tap @ Borefts Beer Festival 2015. Pours pitch black with a thick dark brown head. Aromas of vanilla, fudge, sweet chocolate, sweet licorice, light maple, bourbon, molasses, roast, labre larver. Taste has vanilla, caramel, roast, fudge, chocolate, molasses, bitter chocolate. Expected more from this but very balanced and good. Had wanted some more sweetness though.

330ml bottle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a bubbly round tan head. The aroma is big roasty malt, molasses, coffee, chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet, liqouirce bitter, with a smooth, rich, oily, sticky maple syrup, roasty, boozy bourbon, oaky palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak wood, maple syrup, treacle toffee, prunes, dates, black rye bread and burnt sugar. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, oak wood, bourbon, maple syrup, roasted nuts, vanilla, dried fruit, treacle toffee, liquorice, toasted coconut and a sweet finish with a generous cacao bitterness. Full body, really sweet. Really tasty with a generous bourbon barrel character, but possibly a bit unbalanced and too sweet. Still, very nice.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Leighton for the can. Opaque dark brown beer, a few dark tan bubbles. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Good dark chocolate streaked malts. Tangy fruits into fruity bourbon that also brings spice. Smooth tangy bourbon finish. Rich and good fun.

Bottle split at L42, thanks to LKS, 14/11/16. Rich black pour topped with a decent tan cap. Nose is sweet malts, molasses, syrup, charr, maple, chocolate. Taste comprises maple syrup, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate xauce, dark fruit rinds, well integrated bourbonics. Full bodied, slick and oily palate, warming alcohol in the close. Solid hot sipper but just a touch overly boosty for my liking.
