Ever since Kees Bubberman left Emelisse and began his own brewing project, he has been unleashing one impressive beer after another onto the world, so Iβm very curious about this IPA which puts Mosaic - one of the biggest βhitsβ in IPA land these days - in the centre. Medium thick, moussy, snow white, very regular head, thinning in the middle but stable on the edge, over an initially clear, warm orangey golden beer turning a delicately hazy deep orange with sediment. The aroma makes me smile instantly: bursting with all the typical Mosaic properties indeed, breathing impressions of mandarin, sweet onion, pink grapefruit, orange juice, overripe mango, green banana, withering tulips, lemon-scented air freshener, passion fruit, biscuit, sweet cherry tomato, roasted shallot, dessert wine, guava, canned pineapple; with the sediment added, more pine or spruce impressions also join in. Fruity, exotic onset, vivid but clean, with a lot of tropical fruits (mango, guava, passion fruit, starfruit) but well-positioned, sweet with a lovely lime-like, soft sourishness for balance and a very faint salty touch; carbonation is soft, mouthfeel supple, slick and a tad oily. Lean biscuity malt sweetness in the middle, not too thick so as not to interfere too much with the aromatic New World hoppiness which quickly fills the mouth and produces grapefruity, mango-like and onion-like scents retronasally as well as a lingering, resinous, spicy bitterness; juicy bittersweet finish, long and fragrant, with a trace of sourishness peeping through. An ideal beer - if consumed fresh enough - to get to know Mosaic from the inside out, elegant, bursting with aroma, supple and highly quaffable, with the right amount of hop bitterness for a modern IPA. Lovely, as expected...

Bottle from Albert Heijn XL, Purmerend, Netherlands, consumed on-board Stena Britannica on our way back home Monday 3rd October 2016 Pours light gold itβs a little hazy but with a huge pillow of white froth. Reminds me a little of Duvel, just a little less harsh on the bitterness. Itβs really good, quite dry, fruity with lots of lemony flavours, refreshing, tasty damn decent beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
