Decidedly malt-driven, this 5%, ~25-IBU Scottish ale is a caramel-and-toffee-tinged excursion into familiar red-ale territory, albeit one astride a delightfully subtle thread of hop bitterness.

$2.19 can from Vintages by the Dan. Pours clear brown with a small beige head. Aroma is alcohol-caramel, roasted nuts. Flavor is roasted nuts, caramel, brown leaf, metal. Lacks a ton of flavor. What's there isn't bad, but it only leaves me wanting a better Scottish Ale.

Dark copper color with tan head. Earthy aroma. Flavor is a little malt or caramel sweet at the first sip, mild bitterness to balance, with an earthy, woody finish.

Fairly unimpressive Scottish ale, a sweet mix of bananas and buttered caramel hampered by weird tart fruit notes and a light, semi-metallic back end. Finishes bland and fizzy, nary a hint of hops to balance out the sugary front. Okay pour, nose is mostly caramel. Eh.
