Don’t be fooled by the name—meaning “black” in Czech, “Cherny” refers to the color of this German-style Schwarzbier brewed true to the regional style of northern Bavaria. Dark roasted & aromatic malts combined with minimal hopping creates a wonderful beer with subtle hints of coffee and chocolate.

On tap at the SLC BP. Clear deep mahogany pour. Tan hean. Lots of nice toast malt and caramelized notes. A little smoke even perhaps. Clean light bodied and quick finishing. Lots of nice malty flavor for winch a light beer

They are calling this a Schwarzbier now on their menu, FWIW. Tap. Pours deep clear Ruby black, medium beige head, good lacing. Aroma is super roasty, lactose, a bit ashy. Flavor has a touch too much sweetness, light bitterness. A bit odd. Stale coffee? Light plus body.

I haven’t had a lot of dunkler bocks but this isn’t quite what I look for in a beer. Tangy odd aroma with copper. Amber pour with good head and lacing. Bottle.
