Roasty-Chocolaty-Smooth: Drioma is the Slavic spirit of the night. Her dark nature is smooth and subtle, just like our Russian imperial stout. The Russian name was given to the style not by the location of brewing, but the location on consumption. Originally brewed in London for export to Russia, this notably strong ale became wildly popular with Russian imperials, earning the name Russian imperial stout.

Bottle - Lots of roast malts and some liquorice. Dark cloudy brown with a decent white head. Dark roast, some spice and a roasty, light chocolate notes.

Poured up at the Avenues Proper Publick House out of a 50cl bottle which resulted in a full glass of beer with a nice and dark body that supports a full tan head of foam that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, some spicy anise like black licorice and then a light amount of toffee mixed with dark fruity esters. The taste is rich and roasty with dark roasted malts rolling into chocolate malts and spicy black licorice. It picks up a faint but pleasing degree of sweet dark fruity esters that mingle seamlessly with the dark roastiness into the finish. Nice stuff.

500 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a totally black color with a medium beige head. A sweet chocolate nose, milky. A rich flavor of roast, sweet chocolate, ash, sweet fruity hops. Dry as heck. Interesting. Light dark fruit and cocoa in the finish. Quite good. No heat at all.
