This high-gravity Wheat Ale is brewed with blood orange juice, grapefruit & tangerine peels. This special ale is brewed with 35% Wheat & 3 types of hops.
We made this one obviously refreshing. It features Tropical citrus and grapefruit aromas from Mosaic hops along with the addition of over 4 & a half pounds per barrel of grapefruit & tangerine peels. And to get extra juicy, we ferment with blood orange juice concentrate.
Not overly bitter, this brew sits around 30 IBU and its nice citrus pith rounds out the bitterness. Residual sweetness helps accentuate the fruity character and masks the 8.5% ABV well. Enjoy straight up or served on the rocks with soda & wedge of fresh fruit. We’ve loved it with simple syrup & a shot of our favorite spirit.

The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange color with a sly transparency and a cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a decent pace. Not much lace.
The aroma had some sweet blood orange juice tones, sugars, light grapefruit pulp and grassy hops.
The flavor was also extremely sweet through the prior mentioned aromas. Aftertaste and finish projected the same.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV, actually felt way under.
Overall, interesting beer to say the least.

12 ounce bottle. Bright honey gold color topped by a large bubbly white head. Big sweet fruity malt nose is redolent of tangerine. Flavor is more sweet citrus fruit. Tangerine and pink grapefruit combine with boozy notes to produce a brew that more resembles a tropical umbrella drink than an Imperial Wheat Ale.

Bomber from Beer Run, 5/18/16. Hazy amber, large fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of grapefruit juice, a little zest and wheat. The taste is grapefruit, blood orange, mild wheat. Medium bodied, juicy, but a little too juicy.

Clearish golden and lightly copper coloured body with a very small and thin off-white head. Aroma of citrus (surprise), wheat, yeast, alcohol and a hint of very light hops. Medium-bodied; Strong yeast flavour at first with some subtle hops, a bit of yeast and wheat and a grassy and slightly deep taste of citrus and hops. Aftertaste shows some yeast and wheat with a good deal of alcohol and a noticeable citrus flavour. Overall, a decent beer with some good flavours and depth, but nothing too special or worth searching high and low for. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 03-May-2016 for US$1,67 sampled on 04-July-2016 while watching the fireworks over the city while at home in Washington on Independence Day!
