Rich, hazy amber coloured body with a lighter copper glow, and a tall, but very fast-dying tan head, only a centimetre tall. Aroma of caramelised sugars, toffee, earth, metal, malt and a good deal of astringent notes throughout with a lot of sugars and some alcohol around as well. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour at first with a lot of caramelised sugars, some astringent and pungent funk and a lot of bitterness, mostly from malts, but a little from some bitter hops. Aftertaste shows a relatively robust flavour of caramel, toffee, earth, metal and a good deal of pitted fruits and a dose of funk at the end. Overall, a relatively well-balanced beer with a lot of caramel flavours, a nice sweetness, but a deep and astringent beer throughout that shows some funk at the tail end. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye St NW), D.C. on 07-July-2017 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 27-October-2017.

A little hops and some light rust. Well worked in. Pours amber with good head and lacing. Basic style done well like no-frills tomato sauce. Light bitter finish with a bit of tang. Bottle pour at beer festival.

12oz bottle pours a clear amber with some white head. Nose has malt, caramel, mild pear. Flavor is sweet, malty, a bit soapy too. A little odd.
