To achieve the unique flavor profile of a Mint Julep in a beer, we began with a blonde ale and added mint leaves and honeysuckle, which lend themselves to the bourbon flavor. This 6% ale finishes with a smooth, subtle sweetness that just might lead you to adopt the term y’all and spend more time on the front porch in a rocking chair.

Pours slightly cloudy gold. Smells of juniper or something. Sugars malt bit of hops and herbs. OK unspectacular.

12 ounce bottle from Discount Liquor. Hazy greenish (!) yellow wth a large foamy white head. Decent retention. Aroma of mint, pale malt, hints of citrus and bourbon. The taste is mint, pale malt. lime. wood. Medium bodied, lingering spice.

King’s Head. Keg. Light haze on this gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is slightly soft and has reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth cooling mint. Mild bubblegum esters. Piney floralness. Trace of sweetish lime. Light estery minty finish. Nice concept that is well executed. Went down very well on a hot day.

Keg at the Rake. It pours bright gold with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, big sweet mint character, mint chewing gum, light sugar and cream soda. The taste is crisp, bitter - sweet, upfront mint, Wrigley’s extra, straw, icing sugar, cre soda, light grass, toasted grain and a touch of alcohol with a dry, minty finish. Medium body and moderate, lively carbonation.not foe those who dislike mint. Novel, but I wouldn’t want to drink a lot of it.

Pours a reddish amber from a bottle, very thin quickly disappearing white head. Sweet minty aroma and flavor, not picking up on any bourbon. Okay beer.

Draft at Mason Social. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma was light mint, herbal notes. Touch of light malts. Flavor was light mint, spearmint in particular. Light sweet malt notes, touch herbal character. Very refreshing. This is probably going to be hit or miss, but I really liked this on - it hit the spot for a mint julep as a beer.
