The Victory version of this ‘secret’ offering is inspired by the rich brewing heritage of the alt beers. It is a dark ale exhibiting the love of hops and mastery of malt that Victory has displayed for 10 years. Initially assertive with spicy hops, Ten Years Alt concludes ever so comfortably in rich, roasted malts and burnished hop character.

On tap at Bailey's, pours a hazy orange amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is quite hoppy for an alt, with notes of German lager yeast, bready malt and some dry hopping. Flavour is extremely hoppy for an alt, with piney dry hopping and bready malt. Quite astringent on the finish. Well-made avant garde alt beer.

Beer Table To Go, NYC tap: well apparently this beer is back because I had it on tap at a reputable establishment. Pours clear brown with a beige head. Aroma is malty and hoppy... Some toffee and sugar and stuff. Taste is malty and not too sweet. Hops give themselves a nice presence. I like it when altbiers do things right. This is one of them.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color alt with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt is very nice with some subtle toffee notes also noticeable. Taste is very refreshing with some rich caramel malt notes and some balance sweetness. Hops are very hard to distinguish which is a good thing since the malt bill is generous enough and need no complement. Full body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting take on the style and easily drinkable.
