New Beer Distributors, NYC 50cl ($4.25): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is ripe fruit, pale malt, and a pretty moderate amount of German hops. Taste is sweet at first, but then gets to be quite bitter around the finish. Moderate lingering hop and heller bock tastes. Feels just a bit off. Not the most pleasant beer. Something about heller bocks...

On tap sat outside Gasthof Fraundorfer, Garmisch-Parrenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany 28th May 2012 I understood that this was Paulener Maibock, it was certainly a Maibock in a Paulaner, so this looks the nearest most likely match. Pours copper wuth medium large white frothy head, stunningly clear. Some grain on nose and a slightly sweetish waft. Quite thick in the mouth the alcohol is noticeable, but there is a steady bitterness also apparent in this beer. Enjoyable but you can tell that is fiercesome stuff. Btw great pub that I had this at, very, very Bavarian in feel with even young lads dressed in full regalia. A6 A5 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

Bottle. Pours a clear golden with a nice head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet malty alcohol. Tastes along the same line balanced with the hops. Full bodied, slightly alcoholic finish. Take it or leave it.

Sampled on draft at Olde New York in State College PA this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized soapy white head that produced some lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar, candied fruits and faint vague hops. The flavor was tangy and sweet with strong notes of sugar, candied fruit and light floral hops. The finish was long, tangy, sugary and fruity. Smooth and full bodied. Nice.

Bottle. Clear, a bit pale golden, with a nice, white head leaving lacings. Malty sweetness and some hops in the aroma. Quite fruity-sweet and malty flavor, nicely balanced, but there’s something missing, it’s a bit too weak for a bock. Medium to full body. Sweet, malty and slightly grassy finish. I normally prefer the dunkler bocks, and this one does nothing to change that preferance, yet it is a quite nice one.(070528)

Bottled. A yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of straw. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, it is a bit thin for a bock - and hence doesn’t kick ass.

Test vom 1.5.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 9,11,12,12,-,12 - 11,52
