For this version of Stone Enjoy By IPA we thought: “We don’t always have a filter, so why should our beer?” By skipping a step and letting this devastatingly fresh, golden-hued double IPA go un filtered, the beer takes on a hazy appearance and its peach and tropical fruit hop aroma are intensified. So though it may sound like it, this missed step was no misstep.

Like the other IPAs in this series, this version is brewed specifically NOT to last.

Although it’s very similar to our regular version of Stone Enjoy By IPA (it is the same recipe after all), leaving the beer unfiltered results in a perceptible change with the hop aroma. It is more fruit-forward than our filtered version, which has more of a balance between dank and fruit. It’s a little challenging to brew, since we’re used to filtering our beers, but a fun one, with much of the same hop intensity as our original version.

Can from Wine Warehouse. Enjoy by 12-25-17. Pours slightly hazy gold with a large yellowish head. Aroma is tremendously juicy citrus including orange and grapefruit, pine, slight sweet flowers. Flavor is delightfully bittersweet citrus juice, including and especially orange but back-ended by grapefruit peel. A nice floral hint and a good pine backbone finish this off. Nice job.

On Tap orange light amber thin lasting off white head. Light toasted caramel malt flavors. Clean moderate hop bitterness. Some more caramel in the malts and a big fresh slightly tropical and a little grassy on the hops. Lingering moderate biter bite.

Can, Enjoy By 07.04.17. Hoppy aroma with tropical and stone fruit. Even with a little bit of allergies flaring up the smell is pretty vibrant and fruity. Deep tropical fruit tastes, sweet and somewhat dank before a lingering bitter finish. Dank and spicy bitters, a little more stone fruit.

Can with 07-04-17 on it. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a thin head of froth and very little aroma. Kind of an orange blossom and soap over dough smell is about it. Taste is much better. Starts with a bouquet of tropical fruit (papaya and mango) before transitioning to citrus and finishing with tingly pine. Very nice transition to each sip.

Draft at Mellow. Pours a fairly clear gold with a nice soapy white head that lingers. Peach bomb all over the nose, light pine and citrus...stone fruit. Pineapple and a touch of booze. More heat on the finish. Solid.
