Bottle at home picked up from hotm. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting big tan head. Aroma is nice rich rich roast pine sap, liquorice, woody roast, salty, resinous, varnish.. Flavour is composed of super intense rich dark roasty malts, liquorice, resinous pine, pine sap, bitter roast, firm resinous bitterness. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, sticky hop oils, moderate carbonation, just fantastic.

On tap at The Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard. Nose is chocolate, raisin, cocoa, cola, some dark fruits. Rosty toasty taste of chocolate raisin, cocoa, dark fruits, camp coffee, nuts, touch of smoke. Dry roasty sweet with a lingering bitter edge. Very good indeed.

Looks perfect. Great depth, excellent balance, hearty tobacco, baking cocoa, ashy roast, scorched earth, nips of grapefruit and citrus peel. A hint of black coffee, dark berry. Bittersweet finish. Delicious.

Keg at Mother Arch iii, 12/11/2025.
Pitch black topped with a dirty tan cap that escapes to the edge.
Nose is dark malts, spice, charr, cocoa powder, dusty hops.
Taste comprises dried fruit rinds, earthy roast, liquorice, charr, spice, cacao nibs, burnt toffee.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close dashed with mellow earthy hop bitterness.
Tidy porter but not top drawer in this esteemed series.
