Draft at Smoke and Barrel. Cloudy amber brown color. Aroma of vinous dark fruit. Taste has port, booze. OK.

Draft pour at Maplewood Grill in Vienna VA. Poured a hazy, murky amber color with a wispy off-white head. Aroma was sweet malts, lots of dark fruits. Flavor was dark fruit, sweet malts. Candi notes. Alcohol is pretty well subdued in this one - I drank it without knowing how much the ABV was. I want to like this one more, but it’s just a little too sweet without enough bitter to balance it out.

Sampled at the brewery pours an oily, murky amber with zero head. Big candy nose, dates, some clove, marzipan. Flavor is ok, a little odd, there’s a lot of brown malt - like C-80, some candy... maybe, almonds, dates, some soil. Finishes hot. Not sure what the hell this is.
