We set out to make a well-balanced and flavorful brown ale to win over the hearts of the dubious. What followed became an award-winning recipe and quite possibly our favorite. The addition of toasted buckwheat in the mash lends nutty, earthy and complex flavors. This ale’s brown sugar and fresh-baked cookie notes combined with 45 minutes of continual hops additions make for a unique and delicious American Brown.
