Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Malt, roast, citrus and pepper in the aroma. Malty sweetish, roasty citric flavor with hints of pepper. Well hopped, slightly herbal. Even some chocolate and pepper in the finish. The complexity is there. Nice!

Draft at Nederlands Bieren Festival, (Winter) Delft. Brown with no head. Aroma of spicy fruity chillis, can see this is going to hurt. Yep this is just insane hot chillis and nothing more. Flavour is... erm actually I don’t know. It just burns! I’m done. Stupid beer.

Bottle at home. Dark brown pour wit ha very tall tan head with good retention. Notes of roasted malts, cold brewed coffee, a bit of hot peppers, pine resin and bitter hops. Medium body, medium to high carbonation and a roasty bitter-sweet finish.

On tap at NBF Delft 2016. Hazy, very dark brown to black with a creamy, beige head. Sweetish, malty and slightly roasty aroma of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of milk chocolate, sweet coffee, hazelnut and vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter, quite peppery finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Well-balanced!

Tap at Delfts bierfestival as Scavenger (infused with vanilla and chili peppers). Fresh citrus hops, lots of vanilla and dark chocolate, earthy. Light sweet, light bitter and light chili burn in the finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

Bottle courtesy of Nico Bot, the brewer who we met at Café Opporto, Massluis. Consumed at home Friday 23rd October 2015. This pours dark brown ermm...maybe on second thoughts perhaps black in colour with a beautiful large creamy textured head, looks great. There is some bitterness on the nose but this is outweighed by some fresh green juicy hops which are then softened considerably by the addition of vanilla and chilli the former I could pick out. This is not unlike the standard version. the gentle steady warmth from the chilli is subtle but a great addition there is bitterness throughout but again this isn’t as pronounced as the standard version. Some dark bitter chocolate, creamy vanilla and chilli all work well with a muted but still consistent citrussy burst. It’s a lovely BIPA. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8
