Onze dubbel. Een instant klassieker. Mooi donker van kleur met bijpassende licht
gebrande smaak. Onderscheidt door een goede balans tussen bitter en zoet. Duidelijke toetsen van hout en kruiden.

Huge and stable yellow irregular head over cold hazed brown-mahogany beer. Malty and yeasty nose, yeast byproducts, melanoidins, rainwater, mild roast. More roast in the flavour; sweet malty, partly coloured underbuild, and again rainwater flavour, dark green leaves. Medium bodied at least, relieved by serious carbonation. Classical, but well-crafted dubbel - a "style" Dutch brewers are getting better at, it would seem.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy dark reddish brown with short lasting fizzy white head that leaves no trace. Raisins, brown sugar, light tobacco, some overripe fruits. It’s medium sweet and has some nice malts, but there’s also some Spa Red and metallic notes in the finish which makes it slight dry and weird after the decent start. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Not a great dubbel.

Bottle at home at ticking crap for christmas solo tasting. Hazy nut brown ale with no head. Taste of caramel, woodchips, sugar and the Belgian yeast family, quite some christmassy/sinterklaas spices. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium or under medium body. Sharp but little carbonation, body is watery and light sticky sugary sweet. Finish is sweet with light bitter around the edges. I’m no fan of beer with a big sugary aroma and taste. I’m no fan of this beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dubbel on 09 Jan 2018 at 09:40 - Score: 6

330ml bottle. Cloudy, reddish, chestnut colour with small to average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Minimally toasty, dark malty aroma, hoppy overtones with a fruity touch of red berries, cherry. Taste is slightly sweet fruity and toasty dark malty, hints of cherry, lingonberry, mild hoppy bitterness. Decent.
