21/X/16 - 33cl can from Abbaye des Saveurs (Lille, FR) @ home, BB: 30/I/17 (2016-1229)

Clear purplish brown beer, big aery beige to almost brown head. Aroma: pretty peated indeed, sweet, caramel, dried fruits, hint of chocolate. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit sweet, sugary, quite a lot of peat, soft bitterness, more peat. Aftertaste: pretty roasted, very bitter, peated, caramel, coffee, more peat, way too much.

Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ “Vini Birre Ribelli 2015”. Black, small mocha bubbles. Nose is wow, iodine, huge peat, salt, mineral, light chocolate in the back but mainly huge peat; Taste is peat, charcoal, charred earth, medicinal, iodine, scorched earth, black chocolate. Thick malt, creamy,… Well-done but too peated for me to fully embrace.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Dark brown with a beige head. Very peaty smoky aroma. Malty flavor, sweetish, with caramel, lots of peaty smokiness, some meaty smokiness and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. Very smoky, leaves your mouth feeling like an ashtray - pretty nice.

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy black color with small creamy light brown head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of smoked bacon, smoked sausage, leather and hints of rubber. Taste starts with heavy roasted malt, follows strong smoky and fresh grainy, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. That’s the smoke I really like...

Bottle at home 8th September 2013. Quite a smokey little number, little too much iodine, aroma is smoke and bacon. Taste is smoke, quite nice, palate a little thin and some heavier carbonation. A little like Buxton, smokey and the bandaid, but not as good
