Alisa brought this one back from a trip to NC.+++ Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a hazy orange-copper color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet, malty, tangy, yeasty, phenolic and had a touch of sweet potato. The flavor was bitter, tangy and mildly astringent with perfume and a bit of earthiness. Medium length finish. Medium body. Blah.

Pounder: Pecan, hay, and earth nose. Hazy copper, medium yellow head. Pecan, brief sweet malt at midpalate, Light body, easy carbonation. The sweet potato comes across more as a earthy nuttiness which is not unfamiliar for the style. Great job.

22oz bottle, I drunk most of it. Poured a mostly clear amber color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma was lots of sweet sugary notes, sweet potato yam character. Light lemon, caramel malt, lager character. Interesting. Not bad, but perhaps just a little sweet. A touch refreshing with a lower abv that was nice.

A golden amber lager with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet solventy malt with fruity esters. In mouth, a sweet weizen like offering with banana esters, cloves, not bad. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.
