A Braggot, historically a harmonious blend of mead and beer, gained notice during medieval times and dates back as far as the 12th century. The combination of three unique honeys and the complexity of the hops and chamomile in this braggot style beer create a whimsical brew that is floral with a tart sweetness and a much awaited honey finish. Praise to the queen bee and her colony for this refreshing and satisfying brew.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours fairly crystal clear bright gold color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, tangerine, pineapple, pear, orange peel, honey, bread, chamomile, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and balance of honey, pale malt, and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, tangerine, pineapple, pear, orange peel, honey, bread, chamomile, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, pineapple, pear, citrus peel, honey, bread, chamomile, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of honey, pale malt, and spice flavors; with a nice malt/spice balance and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice braggot style. All around good complexity and balance of honey, pale malt, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled on draft at Gateway Grill this beer poured a vibrant dark golden color with a medium sized foamy off white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet honey, malty and with a bit of bread. The flavor was very sweet with an outstanding honey presence and notes of bread, tangy malts, chamomile, orange zest and had an underlying boozy presence that enhanced rather than distracted. Long sweet boozy honey finish. Moderately full bodied. Excellent.

Draft at Lui Lui’s - West Leb, NH. Pours clear yellow with a faint, creamy head. Honey in the nose, light flowers. Medium sweet flavor, some dough, more flowers, clover honey, light biscuits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, some waxy honey. Nice. Good honey without being cloying.

It pours a clear, sparkling straw gold with about in inch of foam that seems to shrink rather quickly. Lacing is good.
The smell is very herbal; check the ingredients listed on the label for what they are. ;^) For the not herbal side, I get a great deal of sweetness from the honey, a faint but definitely there tartness, fruity me thinks. Grape like comes to mind.
Nothing surprised me on tasting it vs what I got from the smell. Honey and a grape like tartness mixed in with the herbal notes. A bit too much alcohol pops through as it warms and I sip more. I think my favourite part of drinking this is the fruity/grape flavour.
Kind of light bodied, same for the carbonation, the mouthfeel is okay.
An interesting brew to try...once...for me.

Sample at The Crafty Pint. This Braggot pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with a thin white head and minimal lace. Aroma of sweet malt and honey along with a bit of fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of floral hops, toasted malt and honey. The finish is herbal and fruity with a sweet honey aftertaste. Decent overall.

I did not think when I bought this it would have so few ratings being a San Adams (this is it’s 27th). Bomber from Imbibe Wine. Nose is sweet honeycomb with a bit of citrus and bubblegum. Hazy yellow with a medium, heavy lacing, pale, head. Flavor is lightly sweet honey grahams with the bubblegum in the background.

On tap at the Southern New Hampshire Brewers fest 7/26/2013 Slightly cloudy deep yellow. Sweet with lots of honey aroma and flavor. Nice braggot if not a little on the sweet side.

Bottle from a mix pack at Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a frothy 3 finger white head. Aroma of honeyed fruit. Suggesting spiced crab apple? Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is not sweet exactly, then it is exactly honey sweet. Still there is some fruit and maybe noble hop. The nose is good, and the honey is far from overpowering. I keep thinking it’ll go bitter, but it won’t. This is a very pleasant drink. Try this on the folks who don’t like bitter, and on the folks who do like bitter.
