Can on Alaskan Airlines Flight 28. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber hue and a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grass with some sweet grains and bread backing. Flavor has light sweet grains with a bit of grass and a hint of earthy citrus.

[2/23/15] Can on Alaska Air flight from San Diego to Portland. Clear deep golden to amber color with an off-white head. Pleasant aroma of citric and tropical fruity hops and mild biscuit malt. Flavor has some sweetish malt, somewhat biscuity, fruity hops and a mild to moderate bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice and easy-going.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 10/23/2014. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy bright orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt balance; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice robustness and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and balanced bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. The hop flavors in the taste were not as bright as the aromas. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good American pale ale. Good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Light amber body with a frothy white head. Hoppy aroma of citrus, resin, mango, peach. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A little too much resin seeps into the tasty citrus flavors along with some raw hop leafs, but overall an enjoyable APA and one of Alaskan’s better efforts.

5th July 2014, on tap inside the Seafood restaurant of Treasure Island, Las Vegas. My pint arrived almost headless, a reddy amber body almost clear and highly carbonated. Hops all the way in this fairly bitter brew, a citrus bent to the flavour and aroma. Grapefruit notes seemed to leap out at me. Refreshing and a lot better than it looked when it arrived at the table.

Draught at Alaska Lodge (Sea-Tac Airport), as Freeride IPA
Cloudy golden color. Aroma of hops, a bit earthy (manure), feety, fruity. Smooth mouthfeel; the malt profile is light, leaving room to the hops, but the hops could be more fruity and biting...
Ordinary IPA.

Bottle. Caramel malt and pine/grapefruit peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange caramel malt and lightly bitter orange peel flavor. Very nice APA.
