As distinct as the ruddy lava butte that inspired its name, this ale pours mahogany red and has a rich toffee flavor from caramel malt and roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops give every sip balance and subtle bite.

12 oz bottle from Safeway, Port Angeles; Nose of grassy, lemony hops, with a little maltiness; crystal clear amber with a big, glass-lacing, beige head; flavor is light hop bitterness and caramel with a lemon note; finish is lightly bitter.

Little yellow rim over hazy amber beer. Fruity nose, red fruit and berries. Bitter taste, lots of hops but with a certain lack of malt backing. Good bitterness, however, leafy. Light bodied, refreshing. Very fruity, certainly for a red ale. Not at all bad.

On tap at Boise Front Door Pours out a light amber topped with a off white head. Light hops on this amber. A nice sweet tast to go with the light hops. WOW I don’t know why i did try this easy to get brew before. Very nice amber.

Bottle. Poured deep red with a lasting thick white head. Floral hoppy aroma, with a touch of banana. Nice flavour, with toffee notes among the hoppiness. Lasting hop finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Beautiful, warm, clear amber with an off-white head. Lightly sweet caramel aroma. Medium body with dry notes of caramel and a fairly hoppy finish. Well crafted. 290307

I enjoyed this brew last time I was in Bend, OR. Nice body with a smooth, creamy feel. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and spices. Just a hint of bitterness in the finish. A treat for sure.

Copper colour. Earthy-hoppy aroma with crystal malts. Fresh grapefruity hops, hint of crystal. Balanced, tasty. One of the better, and more robust, examples of the style.

Bottle Pours a reddish amber, with a nice frothey head and little clumpy lacing. Smells of bitter citrus and hopps. I taste the grapefruit as well and a healthy hop content. Full and busy, easy on the carbination, and a lingering slightly acidic trailer. If not for the slightly darker, maltier flavor, I’d mistake it for an IPA.

Bottle. Nice reddish amber color - just what you want to see in a 'red ale'- topped by a nice off-white head. Caramel malt aroma. I was surprised at the amount of hops in here. It's well balanced, has a good hop flavor and is a good amber ale (not my usual). Not bad at all.
