Big RICC: Russian Imperial Stout with Coffee and Chocolate. Several years in the making and hitting shelves for the first time in October 2015, Big RICC is large and in charge. A big, bold Russian Imperial Stout, Big RICC rolls in at 10.5% ABV and packs a punch.
Tasting notes: Bold coffee flavor and aroma with strong chocolate notes. Pours jet-black. Subtle dark fruit flavors. Dark roasted grains. Slight, “warming” alcohol presence. Full-bodied and great for sipping.

Can from RobertDale, thanks for the opportunity! Big coffee and vanilla on the nose with bits of caramel and chocolate. Roasty big coffee flavor dominates. Hints of vanilla, caramel, earth, and bitter chocolate. Creamy mouth, big body, light carbonation. Coffee seems a bit much at times, but this is an enjoyable beer.

Pour is a super thick black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice mix of roasted malt, coffee and some dark chocolate. Flavor is an equal amount of roast malt, alcohol and bitter coffee. Finish leaves a nice roast but also a big alcohol presence. Decent coffee and roast malt but a big alcohol and not enough chocolate malt leaves me wanting a bit more from those chocolate malts to show up. Decent Impy stout that I wanted more from.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a chilly mid November Monday night appreciating the world. Appearance is thick pitch black with a thin off white head. Aroma is very rich in chocolate and coffee but there’s another aroma that is really weird but I’m picking up - carrots. Very strange? Taste is decent, thick, moderately sweet and boozy. Decent stuff.

Sampled from the tap at El Bait Shop. Pours black with a creamy dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts and coffee with dark grains and a hint of chocolate supporting. Flavor is coffee forward with a bitter espresso note with roasted malts and bitter dark grains underlying.

12oz can. Black, black body. Aroma first hits with coffee then some char from the roasted malt but not a lot of acidity or roast itself. Thicker body, coats the cheeks. The flavor has more malt bitterness present. Sweet but not sugary. A little mineral character present. Alcohol presence felt at the back of the throat. Some coffee grinds. Can’t particularly pick up chocolate anywhere. Doesn’t finish heavy or syrupy. Its isn’t super big. Maybe needs to be a touch lower in alcohol and a bit less bitter malt flavor. Otherwise, well done.
