Northern Native American tribes believed that the Red Fox was a wise and noble messenger. Other tribes saw her as a dangerous prankster. Foxy Red IPA is a bit of both. This sly girl creeps out of her den when the night air gets just a little chill and the Autumn leaves begin to turn. Don’t be fooled by the color as Centennial & Columbus hops, bursting with their piney and fruity resins, combine with this rich, red ale to create a perfect balance of juicy hops and bready malt to usher you gently into the colder months. This seasonal IPA won’t be around long, so catch her if you can.

Got in a BIF from oline73. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/15/2016. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome balanced and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness. Moderate pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange rind, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, and floral/grassy/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is an incredible red IPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.
