Hopbursting is a relatively new brewing technique in which the vast majority of hops are added to the kettle late in the boil in order to achieve enhanced extraction of hop components (ie, Hopbursting gives you tons of hops flavor and aroma!) Our Hopburst IPA has a substantial malt base, balanced with huge additions of our unique hop blend. This creates an incredibly flavorful beer, with smooth bitterness and hoppy goodness.

Little Iowa craft beer stand in hotel lobby couldn’t resist. Nose is tropical fruits and candy. Tastes way sweet of lemongrass, rock candy, malt, caramel. Touch to sweet for my tastes

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber gold with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has musty pine hops with a bit of bitter citrus and an earthy grain backbone. Flavor has bread and sweet grain with a good amount of bitter citrus.

Slightly hazy intense orange with an off-white head. Aroma is full of candied tropical citrus fruit. Medium bodied. Flavor is tropical fruit, sweet, caramel malts. Lightly soapy. Finish is caramel sweet with medium bitterness. The aroma is my favorite part of this and the flavor lets it down a bit. Still, a nice IPA.

Pours an orangeish-yellow that’s just a bit murky, with smallish head. Hop and fruit aromas. Flavor is hoppy and malty, with some metallic underpinnings, and a touch of homebrew flavor (you know how homebrews all taste the same?). I think this one has potential, but a few of the rough edges have to be worked out first.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at Beer Crazy in Urbandale, Iowa. The pour is a mostly clear golden orange with a one inch egg white head. The head falls with a thick coating of lace. The aroma is caramel malt and resin pine bitterness. The taste is the pine bitterness, mostly, along with a sharp grapefruit peel character to the back. The sweetness of the caramel in the nose is subdued, and decently integrated to the bitterness. The palate is medium bodied with low carbonation and the bitter finish. Some nice mineral is present in the aftertaste as the beer warms. Just OK.

Bottle: Pours an attractive amber color with a thick finger of creamy beige head. Lots of sticky lacing and great retention throughout. The nose is fresh and wet; florals and pine, along with a sweet maltiness. The malty base hints APA over IPA and the taste confirms this. Flavors of citrus and pine, along with faint herbals. Strong malty presence. Refreshing and flavorful, but not the hoppy experience I was led to expect from the label.
