Happy Juneteenth!
One of the driving forces behind Oakflower and specifically our Millington taproom has always been inclusivity. As a woman-owned business and long time craft beer fanatics, we've seen first hand how uncomfortable it can be when you seem to be the odd person out in a taproom. We've strived to make that a non-existant occurrence at our spot, pushing to have a diverse group of staff behind the bar so that everyone can find a familiar face, and ensuring everyone is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
We were honored when our good friend @rosay_suds gave us a shout to hold his first annual Juneteenth event at Oakflower. We've known Mike for years through his work @bipoc_suds, gathering old and new craft beer fans of color to visit taprooms around the state to enjoy the community and positive vibes that can be experienced. To round out the celebration today, we worked together to craft a new hazy IPA just for the occasion.
B.I.P.A.C. was built up from one of our tried-and-true single IPA recipes but centered around the @haas_hops Michael James Jackson Foundation 2025 hop blend. @mjfbrewdistill is a grant-making organization that funds scholarship awards to people of color within the brewing and distilling trades in honor of the great beer writer and journalist Michael Jackson. Comprised of Elani, El Dora few do, Citra, and Citra Lupomax, we're getting tons of fresh citrus, warm tropical fruits, and hints of berry jam.
