A chuckleberry is a cross between redcurrant, gooseberry and jostaberry, and is full of the flavours of all three. It makes a unique fruit beer - vibrant pink, effervescent, low alcohol, refreshing. The sweet juice balances the lemon citric-tartness of the base beer, a kettle-soured Berliner Weisse, aged post-fermentation, on whole fresh chuckleberries.

On tap at Wakefest. Pours a hazy ruby with medium large pink head that lasts. The aroma is berry, cereal, wheat, dough. Slick body, jammy berry, currant, light tartness, dry finish, very good.

Tap, at the brewery. Hazed, rose pink. Lasting, fine, powder pink head. Nose has red berry. Yoghurt. Fruity gum. Taste is light tart, and fairly dry. Light body. Fine carbonation. Drying and tart close. Very refreshing, particularly after a day driving around the Lake District.

Manchester Beer Festival 2018. Slightly weak textured but its sourness is full enough with a berry sweetness.

Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. It pours hazy bright red with a small white head. The aroma is soft, bready malt, jammy fruits, berry, sour candy, raspberry and Victoria sponge. The taste is dry, soft, sweet, sugary, sour candy, berry skin, jam, tangerine, peach and a bit of funk with a dry, soft finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Soft and chuggable, but perhaps could be a bit more tart.
