Gravicask, half-pint, shared with Finn at the International Brewing & Cider Festival, Manchester. Bubbly beige head over a jet black body, fragile lacing. Earthy malts on the nose, roasted, mid-dry, and promising. Fine blended taste of toasted malts, bread, and caramel malts. Fairly roasted malt-driven finish. Quite easy to drink. Pleasing. (Manchester, 23.03.2024).

Cask at the Pup & Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, light chocolate, liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours almost black with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. Roast malts and chocolate in the aroma, plus a hint of coffee. Smooth and creamy in the mouth. Initially it is quite sweet with chocolate to the fore, Later on coffee and traces of fruits come through. Finish is quite bitter. This is a decent stout.

Handpull cask at the Bear & Wolf, Kidderminster. Very dark brown, slightly translucent with a beige/khaki head. Light aroma, some dark chocolate and some black malt. Taste is sweet with an earthy bitterness and robust, almost gravy-like savoury note with follows through to the finish. Chocolate syrup, Marmite in the aftertaste. Medium oily body, soft carbonation. A bit odd but certainly not bad.
